Statement of Intent

Statement of Intent Website [draft 1]

I am planning to create a website which has strong media synergy to the music video. One way in which I plan to do this is through is using the imagery and setting of my music video as part of my background, I hope to use the large-scale art pieces and sculptures that would pay homage to Alice in Wonderland.  I will use a Vivian font which has elements of playful and imaginative tone. Overall, I want my video to replicate the interesting and captivating visuals that are presented in my video. -  - - Bright luminous colours that identify with that of Gondry work and his website. I feel that this will differentiate my website from a generic one, making feel intrigued and inclined to watch my video.

I want the video to have interactive links to social medias, upcoming videos and BTS. I plan on disguising this in the form of potions or the sculptures or little doors that correlate to what actually in m video, therefore the audience feels a part of the Wonderland experience. The function of my website is to promote my video as it will exude interesting visuals that my audience will want to see in the form of a narrative with cinematography.

For my additional audio content

-         Alice in wonderland songs / lofi music that reminds the audience of a dreamy and futuristic setting

-        - I acknowledge that this is a snapshot of a moment and a website would continually evolve

-        teaser trailer

How I intend to link media products

-        synergy and brand cohesion is important because it help my identity as an artist for my audience to be satisfied with the output I produce as they are familiar and expecting strong correlation of persona

-        colour correlation of bright luminous pink, blue, white and over-sized imagery and imaginative images

-        intertextuality of AWL

-        same font as logo

Statement of Intent [draft 1]

For my love song music video, I am using the song ‘LOVE’ by Kendrick Lamar. I plan to narrate my video in order to acknowledge the emotional meaning yet engages my audience of 15-24 class [    ]. I want to produce a video that ultimately promotes the artist and their song as ‘another world’. I will do this through my use of colourful and bright lighting, impressive mis-en-scene, engaging and impressive transitions, a range of camera shots primarily close ups, and bird eye views to build on my conventions of a mainstream video.

I have decided to include the artist in my video. This is due to the fact I am wanting to produce my theme of ‘Love’ will be through the idea of [unlikely] but blossoming friendship, between the ‘loser’ and ‘cool girl’. To remain linear, my story line will hopefully remain as the loser delving into a book and falling in love with the fictional main character in it. The fictional world is that of an inventive-visual style, full of intense lighting and imaginative appeal. The audience will be able to make some sort of distinction between what’s real or not as the protagonists appearance has changed as she shows slight confusion as she tries to make sense of the world [now] around her. In my video the social barrier that stands in the way of a likely friendship is broken down as the loser delves into the fictional world of the extravagant character. The fictional character introduces the protagonist to this world and becomes the friend the protagonist never had. The friendship is platonic however that line is blurred when the protagonists emotions are overwhelming and she questions her feelings in an act of ‘making a move’ and going in for a kiss [insert close up]. I’ve decided to do this to keep my audience engaged and questioning the true meaning of the friendship. But before the kiss is fulfilled, I will create transition with lighting that will reset the narrative to a scene of the protagonist waking up from a dream/sleep mid-book. This is because I want to work closely with the approach my director has to his music videos, where the focus is on imagination dreams and memories – not so mu what’s real or not.

I want show intertextual references to Alice in wonderland and Katy Perry’s California girl’s music video – this works of art embody what it’s like to experience a new and fictional world. The relationship between my characters, resemble that of Needy and Jennifer from Jenifer’s body. I’m thinking about making a reference to a book called Its kind of an epic love story by [                 ] as it writes about the difference between falling in love of your best friend.

To fulfil my plan, I will shoot the regular and dull setting of the real world in my room, at evening time to pave the way into bed time and dreaming. I will use mood-specific lighting like blue, illuminate the scene because the scene is considered to be cold in mood, or blue light may be chosen because the setting of the scene is night. By comparison, the imaginary world will be filmed in one of my favourite locations, Tate Britain 9Pimlico) and/or Sophie’s Tea house (Carnaby). The imaginative focus of my video will be a breath taking experience for my audience, especially due to the fact I’m filming in a location which is public and free! My audience will aso see it as an experience and also an incredible place to go with friends.
